February 2023 This year,

I went to the area around Minamisoma City, which I visit every year.

In just one month, it will be 12 years since the earthquake.

Now that the new coronavirus infection is gradually calming down,

There are almost no reports on the Fukushima nuclear power plant accident.

If I had to say , the release of treated water from a large tank

at the Fukushima Daiichi Nuclear Power Plant in August has been in the media.

However, in Tokyo, this topic is taboo so no one touches it.

No, rather than it being a taboo, I guess they think it has nothing to do with them.

I don't know what to do either.

With this in mind, I headed to Minamisoma City.

Although I used to travel by car, this was my first time using the Joban Line.

I got off at Futaba Station.

Futaba Station, which was renewed in 2020, is in good condition.

Since it is an unmanned station, there is no station master.

I left Futaba Station and walked a little.

There are no shops or convenience stores here.

Now I see houses and buildings where no one lives.

As I passed by,We reached a large well-maintained road.

This road goes on forever.

As I walk, I see Futaba Kosei Hospital, which remains closed, in the distance.

I'm standing on the side of this road

My eyes are on the monitoring post (air radiation measuring device).

There are no tall buildings here, so the sky is wide open.

Newly built apartments are lined up.

When I saw this scene, I was confused.

New roads and parts are being built even though there are no people here. But there are no shops.

Will people want to come back?

Feeling this, I was walking along a quiet, deserted road in the cold February air.
